| Change to a single click
A little known feature in Windows is the ability to change from double click to single click. I confess that I do this to all the machines that I work on, and I've only had one person request to go back to double click. It's a terrific time saver, and you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.
In Windows 98
- In My Computer, click the View menu and then click Folder Options.
- On the General tab, click Custom, based on settings you choose, click Settings and then click Single-click to open an item.
- Choose the underlining style you want:
- To see items underlined the way they are in your browser, click Underline icon titles consistent with my browser settings
- To underline items only when you point at them with the mouse, click Underline icon titles only when I point at them
In Windows ME, 2000, XP
- In My Computer, click the View menu and then click Folder Options.
- In the Click items as follows section, select Single-click to open an item (point to select).
- Choose the underlining style you want:
- To see items underlined the way they are in your browser, click Underline icon titles consistent with my browser settings
- To underline items only when you point at them with the mouse, click Underline icon titles only when I point at them
